Hi! My name is Whitney Smith and I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2018 with a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Marine Biology. While at UConn, I studied abroad in Australia and learned about conservation on a global scale through educational trips to South Africa and the Chilean Patagonia. Since graduation, I have worked as a vet assistant at a sea turtle rehabilitation hospital and a feline veterinary practice. I hope to use the experience I gain from the MCM program to broaden my knowledge of conservation issues and learn how to combine the various aspects of the one health approach to conserve wildlife. I hope this will aid in my desire to help entire wildlife populations and will prepare me to help individual animals when I attend veterinary school and later in my career. In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, and playing with my cat, Tucker.
