My name is Susana Gonzalez. In March of 2019, I completed my B.S. in Animal Science at California Polytechnic: San Luis Obispo, with minors in Spanish and biology. After finishing my degree, I spent several months traveling and moving back to LA County. Unhappy with the big city, I decided to return to San Luis Obispo where I worked as a veterinary nurse assistant into late July. Working with wildlife had always been a career goal of mine. I took a detour into small animal medicine where I learned many important skills and met great people but found myself more eager to work in conservation. I’d love to take on a variety of roles in this field through research, education, and policy with a particular interest in marine life while using a One Health approach to address current conservation issues. I use my leisure time to enjoy the outdoors through hiking, trips to the beach, and occasionally writing or artwork. I have two German Shepherds: Sam (12yrs) and Athena (2yrs) who live with my mother’s mini poodle, Molly (6yrs), back in LA.
