Studying Bear Conflicts and Mitigation Strategies in Jackson, Wyoming Click link for Externship Presentation
Pietro Castelli
While at the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance, I collaborated with several local non-profit organizations and officials from the Wyoming Department of Game and Fish to develop and conduct a research project focusing human-bear conflict. I created and launched a survey, distributed it to residents via print and social media, worked with the Jackson Hole News & Guide to write a story on it, and was interviewed on local radio about it. The final phase of the project was a written analysis of the results and a presentation of conflict mitigation strategies to Alliance leadership. I also assisted the Alliance on land conservation projects including submitting public commentary, attending City Council meetings, and publishing a letter to the editor in the Jackson Hole News & Guide, using writing skills learned as a MAPP student.
