SafePet Program- Providing Relief for Individuals in Crisis (Click link for Externship Presentation)
Rafael Rabines
This summer, I interned at Berkshire Humane Society (BHS), located in Pittsfield, MA. While at BHS, I had the privilege of working with their SafePet Program. SafePet is a temporary foster care program that provides temporary care and housing for pets of individuals in crisis situations. My first assignment was to review and update the SafePet procedural manual and the SafePet brochure to make them more aligned with where SafePet is today. I also had the privilege of creating a SafePet training guide which I presented to SafePet’s partnering agencies. Along with working with SafePet, I assisted the Communications and Marketing Manager with a number of projects. My time at MAPP really helped prepare me for working at BHS. I was more confident in my public speaking and because I was knowledgeable in my area of interest I was able to make intelligent, decisive decisions.
