Hi, my name is Rebekah and I am from Columbus, OH! Growing up, I spent time on my grandmother’s farm where she raised sheep, cattle, and horses. She instilled in me at a young age that animals are to be respected. I have volunteered at the local animal shelter, at the Ohio Wildlife Center, and while in college, interned at a large cat sanctuary. In December of 2016, I graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Animal Biosciences and a minor in Global Public Health. Upon graduating, I moved to Boston to work for a start-up company called Eversound, as a customer success manager. Eversound provides an engagement technology for seniors with hearing impairments or who may have dementia or Alzhimer’s. While learning about the senior living industry and working in a public health related field for the last four years has fulfilled me, I felt it was time for a change. Throughout the pandemic, I felt called to return to a career centered around wildlife and public health. The One Health approach of the MCM program is what I had been missing in my career. During my time in the MCM program, I am looking forward to absorbing as much knowledge as I can. I hope to apply this to a career that allows me to focus on research and community based conservation. Currently, I do not have any pets but hope to change that as soon as a landlord will allow me to! In my free time I enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, kayaking, and cooking.
