I am an assistant professor in the Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health (IDGH). I have a dual background in veterinary medicine and infectious disease research with extensive experience in animal model development, in vivo evaluation of candidate therapeutics against infectious and toxin-mediated disease, development of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and infectious/zoonotic disease control/prevention.
I teach extensively in the veterinary curriculum and provide research support to others via writing and maintenance of regulatory documents, including standard operating procedures and animal, infectious agent and hazardous chemical usage protocols. Recently I have had the opportunity to engage multi-disciplinary groups of students in East Africa in participatory leadership, community engagement, and One Health-related experiences.
