Meet Kate Slyngstad, MCM’18, “After graduating from Boston University with a BS in Biomedical Engineering, I strayed from the engineering path and began focusing on pursuits related to conservation and wildlife medicine. I spent time as an intern at PAWS Wildlife Center outside of Seattle, followed by four months at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia. I gained tremendous respect for both organizations and the experiences solidified my desire to be involved with conservation efforts, particularly regarding the increasing conflicts between humans and wildlife. I hope to attend veterinary school after completing the MCM program to integrate my respect for nature with a passion for science and medicine. These interests likely stem from growing up in the Pacific Northwest and spending time exploring the outdoors. I’m generally happiest in the middle of a forest, on top of a mountain, or on a body of water, preferably with my dog by my side.”
