Hails from New York
Biology and Chemistry
Albertus Magnus College, 2007

My name is Kandi-Anne Ali. I am originally from Trinidad and live in New York. In 2007, I earned a B.S. in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. As an undergraduate, I worked as a part-time veterinary technician at a hospital specializing in small animal medicine. After graduation, I was a research assistant at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. The project involved determining how treatment with different inflammatory inhibitors affected canine osteosarcoma cell proliferation. During this time, I knew that research had to be incorporated into my future endeavors. To do so, I needed to further my education. In 2008, I was admitted to the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK, and, in 2014, earned a B.S. in Pre-Clinical Veterinary Sciences. After moving back to New York, I still wanted to continue my education. The MS-IDGH drew my attention because it incorporates my interests in Immunology, Microbiology, and the effects infectious diseases have on human and animal populations.  My goal is to continue my education into a doctoral program and eventually work within the Public Health sector for a government agency.
