My name is John Prettyman and I am from St. Michaels, MD. I am a graduate of Stevenson University, class of 2018, with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies focus in Biology and Environmental Science. I have studied in Hawaii, Costa Rica, India and East Asia. A great deal of time was spent researching marine and wetland species from the genetic variation and reproduction of crayfish in Baltimore, to the interactions of humpback whales in Maui. Before entering the MCM program, I worked as an aquaculture manager for an oyster farm and I worked towards receiving my Master Captains license through the Merchant Marines. The main reason I chose the MCM program was because I could still pursue my dreams of veterinary medicine while focusing on conservation as I strive towards my DVM or PhD in Marine Biology. When I am not in class you can find me playing with my dogs Panda and Cara, reading, playing ukulele, or cheering on the Bruins!
