“My name is Hannah Bartling and I’m from Malvern, PA, a suburb outside of Philadelphia. I graduated with a BS from Saint Joseph’s University in 2016, where I majored in biology and minored in behavioral neuroscience. I volunteered in a biodiversity lab that focused on conservation of exotic species, helping fortify my passion for animal health and medicine. After my undergraduate education, I worked for two years as a veterinary assistant in a specialty hospital, working closely with small animals. I learned about the MCM program through an interview for the DVM program at Tufts. The perspective of One Health really connected deeply with my interests and pursuing this program seemed like a natural next step. I felt as though I needed to focus on high priority environmental issues that affect both humans and animals, hopefully leading to work with organizations that facilitate efforts towards change. In my spare time, I enjoy bothering my two English bulldogs, kayaking and visiting craft breweries.”
