M.S. in Animals and Public Policy
Class of 2018-2019
Ariel Lefkovits
The objective of this study is to better understand the general public’s perceptions and attributions about pit bull type dogs, the effects of the negative stigma against pit bull type dogs, and how these perceptions and attributions are shaped. The results of this mixed-methods study could be applicable to individuals who wish to change the negative schema surrounding the pit bull and organizations looking to change the policies and legislation that target pit bulls as well as their owners.
