B.S. in Neuroscience
Western New England University, 2020
My name is Emma Buck, and I graduated from Western New England University in the spring of 2020 with a B.S. in neuroscience. Before graduating, I assisted other neuroscience students on their senior thesis and eventually completed my own! My thesis focused on the sex differences between male and female rats and various behaviors exhibited in response to a fear-conditioning paradigm. Unfortunately, my first experience with infectious diseases was when a close family member was admitted to the ICU in the summer of 2017. With this experience, I paid special attention to news articles and lectures about infectious diseases and was excited to discover this master’s program. After completing this program, I hope to attend medical school and pursue an M.D, and I believe my experience with this program will make me a better physician. Outside the lab and the classroom, I spend a lot of time with my friends. I met many of them through a theater program, and we enjoy busting out in showtunes, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and playing other board games together.
