My name is Christine Parascandola and I am from Brooklyn, New York. I graduated from CUNY Hunter College in May of 2018 with a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Public Policy with a focus on Wildlife Conservation. My passion for veterinary medicine and wildlife conservation flourished throughout my undergraduate career when I worked as a wildlife educator and a veterinary assistant. These experiences encouraged me to travel to Malawi where I volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation center and cared for vervet monkeys rescued from the black market. After graduating college, I worked as a zoo keeper for the Prospect Park Zoo where I had the opportunity to work with a variety of species ranging from monkeys to reptiles to domestic animals. The positions I have held both during and after my undergraduate career have solidified my desire to pursue a career in conservation medicine. With this degree, I aspire to rescue wild species from exploitative industries and work with local communities to improve human-wildlife relations. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy vegan cooking, hiking, working out, traveling, and playing with my pup, Simba!
