Caitlin Jones MCM’15 was one of the first recipients to receive the Lily Glidden Award from Tuft University’s Department of Biology http://ase.tufts.edu/biology/news/. Caitlin used her award to travel to Tasmania where she completed her MCM Externship working with the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program. The work involved assessing different interventional strategies available to mitigate disease propagation and support reintroduction efforts for the Tasmanian devil. “Working in the field helped me gain new skills for research, apply the knowledge I gained in my coursework, and learn more about the context of the Tasmanian devil declines.” Her MCM Case Study was titled, “The Ecological Role of Tasmanian Devils: Managing Trophic Cascades Amidst Devil Declines”. Caitlin is from San Diego, CA and she received her BS in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. She is currently applying to PhD programs. Largely inspired by her Externship in Tasmania, she is interested in a PhD in disease ecology.
