My name is Ben LaFond and I am from Brooksville, Florida. I graduated from New College of Florida in May of 2020 with a degree in Biology/Neuroscience. While at NCF, I primarily researched the effects of global climate change on interspecies interactions between native and invasive species. For example, for my undergraduate thesis, I investigated how temperature effects the feeding behavior and parasitic load in invasive and native apple snails. My broad interest in the intersection of anthropogenic climate change and environmental health has been my primary motivation for joining the MCM program. After completing the MCM program, I plan on completing a PhD in Wildlife Biology or my DVM to become a wildlife vet. In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my cat (Apollo), video calling my dog (Venus (Lab/pit)), and scuba diving!
